Conference Hotels

Negotiated conference rates are available at Gran Melia Hotel, conventiently located next to Lagos Business School campus, as well as at the upscale Eko hotel. Transportation will be available between the hotel and the conference venue.

The conference rates are:

Gran Melia Hotel: N 15,750 per night including breakfast
Eko Hotel: N 45,800 per night including breakfast

Visa Applications

Information about the Nigerian visa application process can be found at: https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/pages/visaguidelines Yale University and Lagos Business School are working together to provide accepted conference attendees with the required invitation letter and certificate of incorporation. Accepted conference participants should have received a link to a webform to request a visa invitation letter.

Important: A yellow fever vaccination stamp is required to enter Nigeria.

Arrival information

Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) is the international airport located in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria, and it is the major airport serving the city of Lagos. For more information go to:http://lagosairport.net/

On March 15th, emc3 Ltd will have two airport assistants (with “Yale Africa-China Conference” signs) to assist with any queries and with obtaining transport to the Eko & Gran Melia Hotels. You may take an authorized airport taxi at a cost of Naira 5-8,000 (depending on your hotel), or an Uber. It takes 45-120 minutes to get from the airport to the conference hotels.

Transportation to the conference venue

The conference will take place at Lagos Business School (LBS), located at Km 22, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ajah, Lekki, Lagos (Map).

Complimentary bus shuttles will run between the conference hotels (Eko Hotel and Gran Melia Hotel) and Lagos Business School on the conference days. Further information will be available upon check-in.

Currency

Nigerian Naira (₦) is the local currency. US$10,000 (Ten thousand US$) is the maximum undeclared amount of cash allowed by any one individual legally to be brought into the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Please note that there are no money exchange facilities at Gran Melia hotel. There are ‘bureau de change or market exchange’ stations in the airport and at Eko Hotel that can help you exchange your money. Market quoted exchange rates fluctuate frequently. Legal cash ‘bureau de change or market exchange stations’ rates differ considerably to your advantage from the official Nigerian Central Bank or online rates; these official rate applies when making international credit card purchases and ATM cash withdrawals locally. Please take advice from our airport assistants on all of the above.

Security

Access to the conference venue is limited to registered participants and accredited reporters. Registered participants can obtain their conference badge upon arrival at Lagos Business School.

Dress code

Light professional attire will be appropriate, as the conference takes place at the business school where professional attire is more common than in other academic settings.
